Promise #34: True your wheels

Thank you: two words that roll off my tongue with ease. Thank you for the kisses. Thank you for the coffee. THANK YOU for cooking dinner. Thank you for your time. Thank you for the favor. Thank you for allowing me to put a promise in your inbox every week.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

It’s a funny, little, feel-good phrase that really packs a punch. Saying it can instantly boost two people up, not saying it can instantly drag one person down.

How would you feel with more thanks in your life?

That’s a loaded question. But really, think about it. Think about everything you do that might be a touch more bearable if you received thanks at the end of it all.

My list? Cleaning bathrooms. Check. Cooking dinner. Check. Walking the dog. Check. Brushing the dog’s tangled coat. Check. Sitting on the sidelines cheering through rain, snow, sleet and hail. Check. Dropping everything to always be present. BIG FAT CHECK.

I can look at that list and easily say those are all things I signed on for, right? Yepper. But who’s to say a little thank you wouldn’t dissolve the monotony of it all. It would. And, sometimes, it does.

The challenge is to true your wheels.

I didn’t think much of any of this until I watched this short, three-minute video by Laura Trice. She talks about the value in “truing your wheels.” It’s a cure for thanklessness, it’s a boost for the mind and a little food for the soul.

I’ll leave you with it. Thank you for spending some time with me today.

      Hey Lauren-
Thanks for letting Max play with Henry, despite all the life lessons he’s probably receiving a few years too early.

Thank you, Tracey Ann! As a freelancer you probably know that your thanks for a job well done is you don’t hear back from anyone. So thank you for sharing! (Oh and thanks for being you – that goes without saying too often!)
